Can I drink alcohol with Semaglutide? Can I still take Semaglutide after drinking alcohol?

Table of Content [Hide]

There is no conclusive research evidence on the interaction between semaglutide and alcohol. In terms of mechanism of action, semaglutide can act on pancreatic β-cells and promote insulin secretion to lower glucose, while the glucose-lowering effect of insulin is enhanced by alcohol consumption, which may pose a risk of hypoglycemia.

However, semaglutide intelligently promotes insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells according to blood glucose level, i.e., when blood glucose is too high, semaglutide promotes insulin secretion to exert hypoglycemic effect; when blood glucose is too low, semaglutide no longer promotes insulin secretion, therefore, the risk of hypoglycemia with the use of semaglutide during alcohol consumption is low.

However, alcohol consumption is not recommended for diabetics for safety and health reasons.
