Storage Methods:
1. Store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C.
2. If required, each single-dose pen can be stored unrefrigerated at temperatures not exceeding 30°C for up to 21 days.
3. Do not freeze. Do not use if frozen.
4. Store in the original carton and avoid light.
Applicable conditions:
1. May be used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
2. Limitations of Use: No studies have been conducted in patients with a history of pancreatitis; this injection is not indicated for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.
Recommended Dosage:
1. The recommended starting dose is 2.5 mg subcutaneously once weekly. 2.5 mg dose to start treatment but not for glycemic control.
2. Increase the dose to 5 mg after 4 weeks for weekly subcutaneous injections.
3. If additional glycemic control is needed, the current dose is increased to 2.5 mg after at least 4 weeks.
4. The maximum dose is 15 mg administered subcutaneously once a week.
5. If a dose is missed, instruct the patient to use it as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) of the missed dose. After more than 4 days, the missed dose will be skipped and the next medication will be used regularly on a predetermined date, with the regular dosing regimen resuming weekly thereafter.
6. The day of the weekly dose can be changed if required. The interval between doses should be at least 3 days (72 hours).
Usage:
1. Remove the injection pen from the refrigerator.
2. Do not remove the gray holder cap until you are ready to inject.
3. Check the labels of the pens to ensure that the correct medication and dosage are given and that they have not expired.
4. Check the injection pen to make sure it is not damaged.
5. Ensure that the drug is: unfrozen, not cloudy, colorless to slightly yellow, and free of particles.
6. Wash your hands.
Step 1:
Your doctor can help you choose the injection site that works best for you, either by injecting the medication into your abdomen or thighs, or by getting another person to give you the injection in the back of your upper arm, changing (rotating) the injection site each week. You can inject into the same area, but be sure to choose a different injection site in that area.
Step 2:
Make sure the pen is locked and do not open the injection pen until you have applied the clear primer to the skin and are ready to inject. Pull off the gray base cap and throw it in the trash. Do not reattach the gray base cap, which may damage the needle, and do not touch the needle.
Step 3:
Apply the clear base adhesive to the skin and unlock it Place the clear base flat on the skin at the injection site and turn the locking ring to unlock it.
Step 4:
Press and hold the injection button for up to 10 seconds. Listen for sounds:First sound = injection started, second sound = injection completed. When the gray plunger is visible, the injection is complete. After injection, place the used pen in the sharps container.
Medication Precautions:
1. Use once a week, any time of the day with or without meals.
2. Subcutaneous injections in the abdomen, thighs or upper arms.
3. Rotate the injection site with each injection.
4. Visually inspect the injection solution before injection; it should be clear, colorless to slightly yellow. Do not use if particulate matter or discoloration is visible.
5. When used with insulin, give the medicine by separate injections and do not mix. It is OK to inject this injection and insulin at the same body site, but do not inject the sites too close together.
Contraindications to be observed:
1. patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2).
2. a known severe allergy to tilpeptide or any of the excipients in this injection.
